I'm not saying Kath Bloom is the greatest musician that ever lived. She is not (Bach was better). I'm not saying she's the greatest guitar player that ever lived. She is not (Johnny Marr was better.

But I am saying that she's the most beautiful soulful singer/songwriter that ever lived.

That's right.

target ain't people

Waste Land

Filmed over nearly three years, WASTE LAND follows renowned artist Vik Muniz as he journeys from his home base in Brooklyn to his native Brazil and the world's largest garbage dump, Jardim Gramacho, located on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro. There he photographs an eclectic band of "catadores" -- or self-designated pickers of recyclable materials. Muniz's initial objective was to "paint" the catadores with garbage.

Media That Inspires: Avery Hairston, Founder of RelightNY

Q: Which film or book was a wake-up call and made you truly aware of an issue?
A: A couple of years ago, I read The World Without Us by Alan Weisman. The book was a shocking and scientific look into what would happen if humans suddenly did not exist. Mother Nature would take the Earth back surprisingly quickly. For me this was a real wake-up call.
We humans should try to make the smallest possible physical/chemical impact on the planet because clearly the natural order of the Earth is not made to sustain our current lifestyles.

28 de agosto, 1963: MLK

Forty-seven years ago, at a peaceful rally in Washington, a Baptist minister named Martin Luther King Jr. was preparing to be the final speaker. Like the other speakers of that day, his prepared remarks were limited to seven minutes. But standing there in front of the crowd of 250,000, King became overwhelmed and broke into one of the most famous refrains in American history. "I have a dream," he announced, the shadow of Lincoln behind his back, "that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: 'We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal.'

Autismo

Déjales que invadan
los vacíos que dejaron los santones
preocupada que ocupaban los altares,

que defiendan la casualidad
como principio frente a la causalidad
de los azares,

que se lleguen las barrigas
con el fruto que comieron, insaciablemente,
en otros huertos...

que levanten podios a sí mismos
sobre el mármol que sepulta
su currículum de muertos

the best line: Like a frightened turtle!

George: Did she do it on purpose?

Jerry: It was my fault, I told her the wrong door.

George: I was supposed to see her. She wasn't supposed to see me.

Jerry: So what?

George: Well ordinarily I wouldn't mind. But...

Jerry: But...

George: Well I just got back from swimming in the pool. And the water was
cold...

Jerry: Oh... You mean... shrinkage.

George: Yes. Significant shrinkage!

Jerry: So you feel you were short changed.

George: Yes! I mean, if she thinks that's me she's under a complete
misapprehension. That was not me, Jerry. That was not me.

Jerry: Well, so what's the difference?

George: What if she discusses it with Jane?

Jerry: Oh, she's not gonna tell Jane.

George: How do you know?

Jerry: Women aren't like us.

George: They're worse! They're much worse than us, they talk about
everything! Couldn't you at least tell her about the shrinkage factor?

Jerry: No, I'm not gonna tell her about your shrinkage. Besides, I think
women know about shrinkage.

George: How do women know about shrinkage? (They see Elaine walking down
the hall) Elaine! Get! (She enters) Do women know about shrinkage?

Elaine: What do you mean, like laundry?

George: No.

Jerry: Like when a man goes swimming... afterwards...

Elaine: It shrinks?

Jerry: Like a frightened turtle!

Elaine: Why does it shrink?

George: It just does.

Elaine: I don't know how you guys walk around with those things.
